HELPING TO TURN UNCERTAINTY INTO ANSWERS

Whole-exome sequencing (WES)

Whole-exome sequencing (WES) assists with diagnosing genetic conditions in situations when targeted genetic testing was unsuccessful.

Quest Diagnostics uses a rules-based, weighted process (published by Quest researchers in 2015) that is aligned with the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) and the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) guidelines. We also follow American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations for WES and Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS)—including using these as first-tier tests for children with certain developmental delays.
