Hair Testing Process and Certifications

Our drug testing panels detect commonly abused drugs and yield reliable results that are defensible in court, meaning you can screen with confidence.

A two-tiered testing process ensures that positive results are re-checked and confirmed. The initial hair specimen is screened using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technology, a proven methodology for routine screening.

Any samples that are presumptively positive in the initial tests are confirmed with another portion of the hair sample using either the traditional GC/MS confirmation method or GC/MS/MS technology.

Quest Diagnostics Employer Solutions testing locations hold and maintain Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA-88) certification as well as any applicable state licensure.
