Quest Diagnostics' West London laboratory, located in Heston, Middlesex, was opened in 1996. More than £3.5 million was invested in building state of the art facilities.
The laboratory, which has a total area of 40,000 square feet dedicated to pathology testing, performed 1.8 million tests in 2001.

Referrals Management Team
Quest Diagnostics offers a referrals service designed to simplify the referrals management process. From the convenience of a 'one stop shop' we can offer a complete solution for specialist and esoteric referrals in all pathology disciplines. The service combines the extensive range of specialised investigations carried out within the Quest Diagnostics network of laboratories with an expanding network of carefully selected and accredited Centres of Excellence in the UK and Europe.
The referrals management team is made up of Quest Diagnostics' employees from specimen processing, laboratory staff, finance, IT and sales who are collectively focused on providing a simple to use service that is tailored to suit individual clients' needs.
A dedicated referrals co-ordinator is responsible for monitoring all tests referred to Quest Diagnostics in the UK, ensuring that these are completed and the results sent out within guaranteed turnaround times.
