H. pylori Ab (IgM) Negative
Measurement of antibodies to H. pylori is not recommended for the diagnosis of active infection. The American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association recommend either the urea breath test or the fecal antigen test for diagnosis and confirmation of eradication in cases of suspected or proven H. pylori infection.

Clinical Significance

Colonization with H. pylori is associated with increased risk of patients developing gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and gastric adenocarcinoma. Serologic testing is recommended only for symptomatic patients. H. pylori IgM may not be elevated in many infected patients.
