Modified Westergren

Limitations

Patients with polycythemia and many hemoglobin abnormalities may have depressed sed rates whereas patients with anemia may have elevated sed rates.

>50 Years ≤20 mm/h ≤30 mm/h

Clinical Significance

Useful in differentiating inflammatory and neoplastic diseases and as an index of disease severity.
