UROGRAM W/RFLX MICRO and CULTURE

Preferred Specimen(s)

Collect random urine in a clean container. Transfer 8 mL
(5 mL minimum) to Stockwell urinalysis transport tube.
Label tube with patient name, date, and time. Specimen
stability is 72 hours. First morning sample is optimal.
Note 1: This tube cannot be used for urine culture.
Note 2: This tube can be used for urine chemistries except
urine osmo.
Transfer 4 mL of sample from clean container to a gray-top
urine C&S Transport kit. Label tube with name, date, and
time. Specimen Stability is 48 hours.
(A microscopic exam and urine culture will be performed at
an additional charge if Leukocyte Esterase, Protein (if
greater than trace positive), Nitrite or Blood are positive
on the screening Urogram.

Microscopic Exam and Culture and ID and Susceptitibities at
additional charges - Test Nos. 303360 (Microscopic), and
790076 (culture)]
In children less than 2 years of age, urine will be
cultured. At this age, culture should be predicated on
clinical symptoms and not on results of the UA. UTI's may
occur despite negative UA results.
