Preferred Specimen(s)

Minimum: 2 mL platelet-poor citrated plasma collected in each 5 vials of 3.2% sodium citrate (light blue-top) tubes

Collection Instructions

Draw (light blue-top) tubes. Fill to complete volume. Mix well by gentle inversion. Centrifuge 2000 x g for 10 minutes. Remove plasma to plastic centrifuge tubes, using a plastic pipette. Centrifuge again. Pipette the platelet-poor plasma into 5 clean, plastic, screw-capped vials. Transport samples on dry ice in the same shipping container. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
