Preferred Specimen(s)

13 mL frozen random urine, no preservative, submitted in each of 2 sterile urine transport containers. If volume is less than 4 mL, call the Biomedical Genetics Laboratory for instructions. To prevent delays in testing, the laboratory requests the receipt of two labeled containers: One container containing specimen for organic acid analysis. One transport tube labeled for creatinine analysis, used for normalizing results. Do not use preservatives. Avoid fecal contamination of urine.

Note: Patient age is required for correct reference range.
