When To See a Doctor
You have answered Yes to:
Has your child had mild to moderate diarrhea?
See significance of mild to moderate diarrhea if you need information to help you answer the questions below.
Review health risks that may increase the seriousness of your child's symptoms.
You may wait to see if your child's symptoms improve over the next 24 hours (or specified time period) if you answer "Yes" to any of the following questions.
Yes Has your baby younger than 3 months of age had diarrhea for longer than 24 hours?
Yes Has your baby age 3 months through 6 months had diarrhea for longer than 24 to 48 hours?
Yes Has your child age 7 months through 11 years had diarrhea for longer than 4 to 7 days?
If you have answered "No" to the above questions, go back to Check Your Symptoms and continue to answer the questions to evaluate your symptoms.
