Type 2 Diabetes: Living With ComplicationsSurgerySome complications from
type 2 diabetes may need surgical treatment at some
time. For example, surgery to remove the
vitreous gel (vitrectomy) may be needed for
diabetic retinopathy. Foot problems caused by
diabetic neuropathy may lead to a need for amputation.
Cardiovascular problems may require heart
surgery. For more information on possible surgery for complications from
diabetes, see the topics
Diabetic Retinopathy,
Diabetic Nephropathy, and
Diabetic Neuropathy. If you have heart and blood
vessel disease, see the topics
Coronary Artery Disease,
Heart Attack and Unstable Angina, and
Peripheral Arterial Disease of the Legs.
