Pericarditis

Home Treatment

As with any heart disease, it is important to follow your doctor's advice for home treatment for pericarditis and to watch for any signs of complications or a return of pericarditis, especially shortness of breath.

Get plenty of rest until you are feeling better, especially if you have a fever. Avoid all strenuous activity that has not been approved by your doctor. In addition, it is vital that you take any medicines, especially antibiotics, as directed and keep all follow-up appointments with your doctor to monitor your recovery from an episode of pericarditis.
