What Affects the Test

Reasons you may not be able to have the test or why the results may not be helpful include:

• High levels of lipids (hyperlipidemia).
• Iron deficiency anemia.
• Medicines, such as corticosteroids, birth control pills, aspirin, bicarbonates, chlorpromazine, neomycin, isoniazid, and sulfonamides (sulfa).
• Medicine used to treat cancer (chemotherapy).
• Pregnancy.
