Preventing avian influenza (bird flu) on poultry farms
You can take the following steps to help prevent poultry on your farm from getting bird flu from wild birds:
- Keep poultry indoors.
- Keep poultry away from areas where wild birds are.
- Make sure people who go into the poultry houses have not been in contact with wild birds or in an area with the bird flu virus.
- Make sure equipment is cleaned and disinfected before you bring it into the poultry house.
- Do not keep bird feeders or create duck ponds on your property. They may attract wild birds.
