Hay fever symptoms

Hay fever symptoms begin at the same time each year. The most common cause of hay fever is wind-borne pollen. The linings of the nose, throat, and eyes become inflamed. Symptoms include:

  • Itchy, watery eyes.
  • Sneezing.
  • Runny, stuffy, or itchy nose.
  • Temporary loss of smell.
  • Headache and fatigue.
  • Dark circles under the eyes.
  • Mucus draining from the nose down the back of the throat (postnasal drip).

Call your health professional for an evaluation if you think you have hay fever and using home treatment and nonprescription allergy medication does not help you feel better.
