Who is affected by transient ischemic attack

The exact number of people who have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA) is not known for certain, because people do not always recognize a TIA nor do they always seek medical help when they experience symptoms.

The following table estimates the prevalence of TIA by gender and age.¹
