The IBSDetex™ Test:
knowing is the first step to feeling better

Woman who found relief from IBS

IBSDetex is the new way to help tell whether your cramps, gassiness, bloating, and diarrhea are being caused by a type of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). IBSDetex is:

  • Simple. The test requires a blood specimen taken at your healthcare provider’s office or at a Quest Diagnostics Patient Service Center. To schedule an appointment at a Quest center near you, visit QuestDiagnostics.com/appointment.
  • Fast. Once our lab receives your blood specimen, we’ll test it and report a result to your healthcare provider within 72 hours.
  • Accurate. Instead of relying on reported symptoms that could be caused by other medical problems, this new test detects the presence of two substances often found in the blood of people with IBS-D or IBS-M. IBSDetex can be a reliable way to help tell whether either disorder is at the root of your symptoms.

How IBSDetex works

Doctors now know that IBS with diarrhea can often be traced to food poisoning a patient may have experienced in the past. When it happened, the body tried to protect itself by creating two germ-fighting substances. These two substances are often found in people with IBS-D and IBS-M. IBSDetex helps tells whether they are present.

IBSDetex reports either a positive or inconclusive result.

A positive result means it is very likely your symptoms are being caused by IBS-D or IBS-M, which are treatable. Your healthcare provider will discuss a treatment plan that’s right for you.

An inconclusive result means your healthcare provider may need to do further testing to figure out what else might be causing your IBS-like symptoms.

IBSDetex looks for two biomarkers often found in people
with IBS-D or IBS-M.

There’s no need to suffer. IBSDetex can help pinpoint the cause of your symptoms. Ask your healthcare provider about testing.
