Maria P. Bettinotti, PhD, D(ABHI)

Dr. Bettinotti is board certified by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) and accredited as Laboratory Director by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI). After obtaining a Ph.D. in Human Biology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet, Munich, she pursued a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, focused on HLA sequence-based typing.

Dr. Bettinotti joined the National Institutes of Health as staff scientist at the Department of Transfusion Medicine in 1996. The focus of her work has been both clinical and research, first as a member of the HLA laboratory and later starting the Molecular Immunology Laboratory. She has published more than 30 scientific papers in her specialty.
